Dumfries and Galloway Council has accepted an offer from ScottishPower Renewables to become title sponsor of the British Pipe Band Championships 2012.
The decision of ScottishPower Renewables to maintain their sponsorship of the British Pipe Band Championships has enabled the Council to freeze ticket prices at last year's level.
Ewan Green, head of the Council's Economic Development service said, "I am delighted that ScottishPower Renewables wish to continue their association with Dumfries and Galloway Council, to help us deliver the British Pipe Band championships in Annan. This has been a fantastic event over the last two years and has certainly boosted the local economy"
John Alexander, Project Director for ScottishPower Renewables said, "Supporting the British Pipe Band Championships for a 2nd year was an easy decision for us and we are already looking forward to the 30th June.
"Dumfries and Galloway is a key area for us. We are working hard to make sure that the region benefits from our efforts, and sponsoring events like this one is an important part of our continued support of local initiatives."
Ian Embebelleton of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association said, 'The RSPBA is pleased to work in partnership with the Council and ScottishPower Renewables to bring the British Pipe Band Championships – one of our 'majors', back to Dumfries and Galloway for a third successive year. We intend to make this the biggest and best Annan Championships yet."
